We are excited to take on a very important project for Southeastern Baptist College, where we are renovating The Haven House on the SBC campus to prepare it as a dorm for young men called to preach while pursuing their education at SBC. This home will give them a great place to live, study, fellowship, encourage and mentor other students while receiving a sound education and learning the roles of ministry.
The Haven House has been on the property of Southeastern Baptist College for decades and has served as the home for many past presidents of the college. Over time, the house has become vacant and is in need of updates and renovation. The WMA of Mississippi is excited to partner with SBC to clean, remodel, and upgrade The Haven House, making it a suitable and welcoming place for ministry students to live, study, fellowship, and encourage one another, as well as other students on campus.
Over the summer, we will have several workdays to help complete this project. We will have a demolition day, during which we will remove parts of the house that are in disrepair and need to be repaired. We will also be adding and removing walls to make the house more adaptable for dorm-style housing. In addition, we will be adding an extra bathroom to the home.
Once the demolition is complete, we will begin the process of rebuilding the home as needed. We will be working alongside a contractor who has been hired to complete the major portions of the renovation. There will also be cleanup days where the whole family can get involved. We will be cleaning the yard, tidying up the work site, and more.
We ask two things: First, please consider being a part of one of our workdays to help us complete this project by the end of the summer. As we know, many hands make light work. Second, please pray for this project—that it will be used to glorify God and provide our ministry students with a wonderful place to live, study, fellowship, and grow closer to Him.
